Ways to Give
The Foundation for Vassar Brothers Medical Center
Vassar Brothers Medical Center's history of meeting the healthcare needs of people in our region has been made possible by a tradition of community support. Such support has helped Vassar Brothers become the leading medical center in the mid-Hudson Valley with the region's only cardio-thoracic surgery center, the minimally-invasive operating suite (one of a handful on the east coast), the busiest maternity center between New York City and Buffalo- including the region's only Level Three Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and the Dyson Center for cancer treatment, a full-service cancer treatment center, which houses the Murphy Center for Radiation Oncology.
These and other far-reaching changes have brought priceless healthcare benefits to all of us who live or work in the mid-Hudson Valley. And more changes are on the horizon, including the availability of a new six-bed unit for specialized post-operative care, a one-stop cardiac outpatient cardiac diagnostic center, and -- at long last -- a third cardiac catheterization/angioplasty suite to meet the growing demand for cardiac diagnostic and interventional services.
Nothing impacts the Medical Center's ability to keep pace with the constantly changing healthcare needs more than philanthropic support from people in our community. To the many of you who already support the Medical Center, we thank you. For those of you who wonder if a gift can make a difference, know that it can -- and does!
There are so many ways to make a gift in support of Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Please consider the following gift options:
Outright Gifts of Cash - Perhaps the easiest of ways to make a gift, cash contributions to the Medical Center result in tax benefits to donors who list itemized deductions on their tax returns.
Securities - Donors may enjoy substantial tax savings by transferring gifts of appreciated stock or property. By giving appreciated securities, donors receive a tax deduction for the full market value of the gift while avoiding the capital gains associated with appreciated stocks.
Charitable Remainder Trusts - A charitable remainder trust is designed to pay beneficiaries either a fixed or variable income payment for life or for a designated number of years. Usually funded with appreciated securities, charitable remainder trusts allow a donor to receive a charitable deduction while partially avoiding capital gains tax. Donors interested in creating trusts are encouraged to consult their attorney and to call the Foundation office.
Matching Gifts - Many companies will match their employees' gifts to Vassar Brothers Medical Center. If your company participates in such a program, matching gifts forms may be obtained through your Human Resources department.
