Dr. Ronald J. Tatelbaum

Dr. Ronald J. Tatelbaum came to Poughkeepsie in 1979 as the third member of the Hudson Valley Heart Center. He has served as President of the Medical Staff as well as being the first physician in over 100 years to serve as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Vassar Brothers Medical Center. First and foremost he has been an advocate of quality care both at the Heart Center as well as at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was recently appointed the first Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs of Health Quest .

Dr. Tatelbaum graduated Case Western Reserve University and the Chicago Medical School, AOA. He did his medical training including medical residency and cardiology fellowship at Rhode Island Hospital, a Brown University affiliate. He is board certified in both internal medicine and cardiology. Dr. Tatelbaum is a member of many organizations including being a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the Amercian Society of Echocardiography as well as the Society for Healing in Medicine. He is a strong advocate of physician growth.

Dr. Tatelbaum has been honored as Man of the Year by the Dutchess Chapter of the American Heart Association, having served two terms as president, as well as Physician of the year by Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

His clinical interests in cardiology include all aspects of noninvasive care including nuclear stress testing, echocardiography, (he performed the first transesophogeal echocardiogram in the community) as well as risk factor modification. Most of all he has enjoyed educating and guiding his patients and acting as a patient advocate.

Ron is married with two daughters. He enjoys time with his family, playing the piano, meditating, the Red Sox and a good round of golf.
