Poughkeepsie, NY- June 28, 2012 - What’s better than chocolate? More than 250 women joined Health Quest on Thursday, June 28th at the Grandview for “Better Than Chocolate: A Girlfriends Guide to a Healthy Life” to find out. The event featured informative and fun lectures about health and wellness, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and, of course, chocolate.

The evening featured a panel of healthcare professionals from within the Health Quest system who discussed topics related to helping women to lead a healthier and more balanced life. Topics included: “Your Breast Cancer Risk: How You Can Tell and Who You Should Talk to” by Kelli Mayfarth, MS, CGC - Board Certified GeneticCounselor and “Exercise: There are LOTS of apps for that” by Keri Gill-Smith - PT, DPT, CLT-LANA, Physical Therapist, Northern Dutchess Hospital.

Keynote presenter, Jessica Applestone, is a successful business owner (Fleisher’s Organic and Grass-Fed Meats), chef and author, who discussed the myths and misconceptions surrounding the differences in organic, grass-fed and commercial food in her discussion, “Know What Your Dinner Is Eating Before You Eat Your Dinner”.

Health Quest sponsored the event, hosted by Brett Levine of ClearChannel Media and Entertainment and Total Traffic. The reason, according to Health Quest’s Public Relations Director, Theresa Mulkins, is to give women an evening to focus on themselves and what it means to be healthy.

Health Quest is the Mid-Hudson Valley's largest healthcare system providing the highest quality care across a broad spectrum of services. Offering the full range of hospital services, pre-hospital emergency care, homecare and nursing home care, the Health Quest system provides immediate and caring service to the one million people who reside in the New York counties of Columbia, Dutchess, Ulster, Orange, Putnam and northern Westchester.

Health Quest hospitals include Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, as well as Health Quest Medical Practice. Health Grades, a leading hospital ratings organization, recently acknowledged Health Quest as “the most recognized health system in the Hudson Valley”.
