Poughkeepsie, NY –Properly installed and used child safety seats reduce the risk of fatal injury by 71 percent for infants and by 54 percent for toddlers in passenger cars. Yet the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has estimated that close to 3 out of 4 parents do not use child restraints correctly based on the child’s age and size, vehicle specifications or other criteria.
That is why Health Quest is pleased to be partnering with Beekman Fire Department to offer a free car seat safety seat check and installation station on the first Friday of every month at the Beekman Fire House (316 Beekman Poughquag Rd). A nationally certified car seat technician will be on hand from 6:30-9:30 pm. The next session is scheduled for Friday, February 3, 2012.
Technicians will inspect your current seat or teach you how to install a new seat. Please bring your children so they can be fitted to their current seats. Special needs seat fitting is available.
Appointments are required. Please call 475-9742 for more information or to schedule an appointment. Additional times & locations available.
