Intensive Care
Northern Dutchess Hospital's Intensive Care is a seven bed unit. The ICU provides specialized care, treatment and monitoring of critically ill patients. A physician board-certified in intensive care is always readily available and all of the registered nurses are trained in critical care nursing and certified in advanced cardiac life support.
This unit provides both a healthy work environment where nurses and physicians can practice professionally, as well as a caring, healing environment, which promotes optimal patient outcomes. Over 50% of the staff has worked in the unit over five years and 60% of the staff has their CCRN (critical care registered nurse) credentials.
To achieve best patient outcomes, data regarding nurse sensitive indicators that impact the critically ill patient related to initiatives such as VAP bundles, DVT and central line infection prophylaxis are monitored and acted upon.
Through teamwork, motivation and dedication, all staff members contribute to the ICU's vision of providing an exceptional standard of care.
