Rhinebeck, NY… the Northern Dutchess Hospital Mothers’ Club has sponsored the WHALE (We Have A Little Emergency) child safety seat occupant identification program for over twenty years. The program is designed to give emergency personnel information in the unfortunate event the adult in the car is unable to respond. The WHALE program is currently used in 32 states and is the first program of its kind in the United States. Two WHALE car seat stickers are placed on each side of the safety seat notifying emergency personnel that there is an information sticker on the back of the seat. Two WHALE stickers are also placed in the windows of the vehicle.
The brochures and stickers are given to all parents who deliver at the Neugarten Family Birth Center, as well as at car seat safety checks. The next scheduled distribution will be Saturday, August 7, 2010 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Baby Care Fair presented by Northern Dutchess Hospital and La Leche League.
