Friends of PHC

The Friends of PHC is a nonprofit group that volunteers its time to raise funds for Putnam Hospital Center.

The club was formed in 2007 and is working to create free community service programs for the Putnam County community.

In December 2007, the club launched The Snuggle Program which provides every baby born at PHC with a Halo Sleep Sack. These sleep sacks are recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics to reduce the incidence of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). The sacks are given compliments of the Friends of PHC in the hope that babies will sleep more comfortably and soundly as will their mothers knowing they are safe.

Additional programs include Emergency Room Goodie Bags for children entering the ER as a visitor or patient; the Teddy Bear Pajama Party which is an evening of story time, face painting, coloring and snacks; providing waiting room TVs to the ER, Birthing Center and Psychiatric Departments; and various other programs.

The Friends of PHC meets the first Wednesday of each month at 9:30 am in the Birthing Center Conference Room at Putnam Hospital Center.

The Friends of PHC is always looking for members who would like to be part of a worthwhile and fun organization. The group welcomes you and your ideas. There is no pressure to put in lots of time; all the group asks is that you give what time you can.
