PHC Medical Staff Adds Nine

The Board of Directors of Putnam Hospital Center recently approved the appointment of nine new members to the Carmel hospital’s medical staff—internist/hospitalist Anatoly Apel, MD, pediatric gastroenterologist Audrey Birnbaum, MD, surgical physician assistant Chris Fillerup, RPA-C, emergency medicine physician assistant Jonathan Humphreys, PA, radiologist Matthew Lewis, MD, surgical physician assistant Jonathan Londin, RPA-C, psychiatrist Mark Stumacher, MD, pediatric gastroenterologist Bhan Sunku, MD, and radiologist Leonard Wald, MD.
Internist, hospitalist Anatoly Apel, MD, of Scarsdale, who is affiliated with Health Quest Medical Practice, received his medical degree from Maimonides State Classical Academy. His postdoctoral training included an internship and residency in internal medicine at SUNY Health Science Center/Kings County Hospital. Dr. Apel is board certified in internal medicine.
Pediatric gastroenterologist Audrey Birnbaum, MD, of Briarcliff Manor, who is affiliated with Mount Kisco Medical Group, received her medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. Her postdoctoral training included a residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology at Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Birnbaum is board certified in pediatric gastroenterology.
Surgical physician assistant Chris T. Fillerup, RPA-C, of Ft. Montgomery, who is affiliated with Health Quest Medical Practice, received his bachelor of science degree from Brigham Young University and his physician assistant degree from DeSales University. He is board certified as a physician assistant.
Emergency medicine physician assistant Jonathan Humphreys, PA, of Patterson, who is affiliated with Pegasus Emergency Medicine Group, received his bachelor of science degree, his masters degree and his physician assistant degree from Mercy College. He is board certified as a physician assistant.
Radiologist Matthew T. Lewis, MD, of New Paltz, who is affiliated with Mount Kisco Medical Group, received his medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine. His postdoctoral training included an internship and residency in family medicine at Swedish Medical Center, a fellowship in medical education at American Academy of Family Practice, a residency in radiology ay SUNY Downstate Medical Center and a fellowship in women’s imaging at New York University Medical Center. Dr. Lewis is board certified in diagnostic radiology.
Surgical physician assistant Jonathan S. Londin, RPA-C, of Hyde Park, who is affiliated with Health Quest Medical Practice, received his bachelor of science degree from City College of New York and his physician assistant degree from Harlem Hospital Center. He is board certified as a physician assistant.
Psychiatrist Mark J. Stumacher, MD, of Ridgefield, CT, who is affiliated with Putnam Community and Family Services, received his medical degree from Shiraz University. His postdoctoral training included an internship and residency in anesthesiology at ColumbiaPresbyterian Medical Center and an internship and residency in psychiatry at New York Medical College. Dr. Stumacher is board certified in psychiatry.
Pediatric gastroenterology Bhanu K. Sunku, MD, of Mahopac, who is affiliated with Mount Kisco Medical Group, received his medical degree from Boston University. His postdoctoral training included an internship and residency in pediatrics at Winthrop University Hospital and a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology at Children’s Memorial Hospital. Dr. Sunku is board certified in pediatric gastroenterology.
Radiologist Leonard A. Wald, MD, of Weston, CT, who is affiliated with Mount Kisco Medical Group, received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His postdoctoral training included a flexible internship at Long Island College Hospital/SUNY Downstate, a residency in radiology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine-Montefiore Medical Center, and a fellowship in radiology from Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Dr. Wald is board certified in radiology.
