In addition to cardiology services, Vassar Brothers Medical Center also provides cardiac surgery. Cardiac and Surgery Services are headed by a nationally recognized cardiothoracic surgeon and a staff of medical professionals selected for their experience and qualifications in cardiac care. The Heart Hospital features state-of-the-art support facilities, including a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, and fully equipped suites for cardiac surgery and angioplasty. The dedicated chest pain emergency room features eight monitored beds and provides 24-hour urgent care for cardiac patients.

The Heart Hospital also houses a 24-bed cardiac step-down unit for surgical patients, a 34-bed step-down unit for non-surgical patients, a post-surgical recovery area, intensive care unit and six general operating Suites. Collectively, these facilities form the foundation of a complete surgical care center, and allow for future services and expansion.

The Heart Hospital also provides comprehensive rehabilitation programs to help patients embrace the lifestyle changes required to maintain good health after their treatment.
