For Patients and Visitors
Having loved ones nearby during an illness or injury can make all the difference in a patient's recovery. That's why we encourage you to visit your friends and loved ones during their stay at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. There's nothing like a familiar face to provide cheer and comfort.
Visiting Hours
9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. All guests must obtain a pass at the Welcome Desk.
Age limit
None, but every child must be accompanied by an adult, and visits are limited to 15 minutes.
Number of Visitors
To ensure the best environment for healing and recovery, only two visitors are permitted at a patient's bedside at one time.
Pediatrics
Parents of children hospitalized may visit at anytime.
Critical Care Unit (CCU), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Respiratory Care Unit (RCU)
Immediate family members of patients in these units may visit at anytime. A maximum of two (2) visitors at the bedside of the patient at the same time. Only immediate family members may visit patients in these areas. For the safety of our patients, visitors and staff, please keep clear of the hallways. Waiting rooms are available for each of these units. Restricted access for visitors who are twelve years old and younger.
Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU)
Visiting hours are 10:00AM-8:00 PM. Immediate family members are allowed to visit 5 minutes per hour. A maximum of two (2) visitors are allowed at the bedside. Children under the age of 14 are not permitted in the CTICU. In order to protect our patient's privacy we ask that each visitor call from the waiting room when requesting a visit.
(NICU) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit:
Parents of hospitalized babies in this unit may visit at anytime.
Gift Shop Hours
Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 8:00 PM
Saturday and Sunday 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Cafeteria Hours
Available every day:
6:30 AM to 3:00 PM
4:00 PM to 6:30 PM
The Upper Crust Deli is located opposite the Cafeteria and is open Monday through Friday:
7:00 AM to 10:15 AM
10:30 AM to 2:30 PM
2:45 PM to 4:45 PM
5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
7:45 PM to 10:30 PM
Vending Machines are accessible 24 hours in the ER and near the cafeteria in the medical center.

Directions to Vassar Brothers Medical Center
From Points North:
Take New York State Thruway south to Poughkeepsie/New Paltz exit. Make right after toll booth on to Route 299 east. Follow 299 east to the end (2nd traffic light), and turn right on to Route 9W south. Travel about 2-3 miles on 9W south and follow signs for FDR/Mid-Hudson Bridge. After crossing bridge go straight to first traffic light (Jefferson Pl/Lincoln Ave) and take a right. Go 1 traffic light and at stop sign take a right on to Columbia Street. Follow signs for parking garage which will be on your left.
From Points East:
From Taconic Parkway, take the exit for Poughkeepsie/Route 55 west. Go through suburbs of Poughkeepsie. Go past Mid-Hudson Civic Center and follow signs for FDR/Mid-Hudson Bridge. At last traffic light before bridge, take a left (Jefferson Pl/Lincoln Ave). Go 1 traffic light and at stop sign take a right on to Columbia Street. Follow signs for parking garage which will be on your left.
From Points West:
Take Interstate 84 to the Poughkeepsie exit (you will cross the Newburgh/Beacon Bridge). Take Route 9 North approximately 18 miles. You will go past South Hills Mall, Galleria Mall, Poughkeepsie Plaza Mall and the Holiday Inn Express. Take Columbia Street exit and follow hospital/parking garage signs. The garage will be on your right.
From Points South:

Make a left out of Stewart. Go about 2 miles to 1st traffic light (just past bridge underpass). Make left at light and go 2 stop lights. About half mile past 2nd light, get on Interstate 84 East. Get off at 2nd exit and take Route 9W North. Follow signs for Highland/Poughkeepsie. Take FDR/Mid-Hudson Bridge and go straight to first traffic light (Jefferson Pl/Lincoln Ave) and take a right. Go 1 traffic light and at stop sign make a right on to Columbia Street. Follow signs for parking garage which will be on your left.
