Neurodiagnostic Services
The Heart Station at Vassar Brothers Medical Center provides Neurodiagnostic Testing for Diagnosing Epilepsy and Other Neurological Problems/Disorders.
Our testing methods includes:
-
-
Evoked Potentials uses EEG signals to asses the connection between a nerve pathway from the eyes, ears, or sensory nerves in the arms or legs to the brain. The test is used to help diagnose spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis and other disorders by recording how quickly and completely nerve signals reach the brain.
-
Ambulatory EEG is an outpatient monitor that is worn for 24-72 hours to record waking and sleeping brain activity in a normal home environment.
-
Epilepsy Monitoring Unit uses prolonged recording of EEG activity with video monitoring to aid in the diagnosis of seizure disorders.
-
ICU/CCU Monitoring Special EEG monitoring is done in the intensive care unit around the clock seven days a week. This monitors the patient's brain activity after a trauma or surgery. The monitoring is also being done by a board certified Neurologist.
-
Corticography EEG's are preformed in the operating room to delineate the epileptogenic areas of the brain prior to the actual surgery. This testing ensures the accuracy and type of corrective procedure done by the surgeons.
