LoansomeDoc Services

Please Note: This is a free service to all medical, nursing and medical center support staff, including direct affiliates within Health Quest.

Associates and community health care professionals will be charged fees for the service - contact the VBMC Medical Library directly for details.

Article requests can be placed electronically from the Internet PubMed (Medline) system directly into LoansomeDoc. Please follow the instructions below.

A. To access PubMed, go to the library's gateway page or link directly to

www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez

B. Click on "Limits" on the blue bar just under the white search box. Search screen will appear. Enter search term(s) in white box, then scroll down to the "Limits" section and select which limits you want to apply. Then click on "Go".

C. Scroll down the results list and click in the box to the left of each citation you are interested in. When you have finished your selection(s), scroll up to "Send To:" and choose the "Clipboard" option. Click on "Clipboard" button and a selected results listing will appear.

D. Click on "Order Articles" option at the left side of the screen.

1) First-time ordering: Complete the registration process by following the prompts. Access code - Contact the library for permission and code. Remember your password.

2) Be sure to choose the mail option for direct delivery of articles.

3) If registration has already been done, follow the prompts for ordering and use the password you selected when you registered.

E. Review your choices and then click on the "Submit" button to have your order processed in the system. Please limit your requests to a maximum of 10 per order in a 24-hour period.

F. Articles will be sent directly to the address that you provide when you register.

Medical Library at Vassar Brothers Medical Center agrees to process all requests in a timely manner, usually in 2-3 business days, and will let you know if a request cannot be filled. Most articles are readily available, in 5-7 working days, within the Hudson Valley and greater NY region; however, articles that are more than 5 years old or that are from specialized journals will be more difficult to obtain and may take longer to process, usually in 7-14 working days.

Articles for which the titles are in [square brackets] are unattainable = foreign language.

Thank you for your cooperation. I look forward to processing requests on your behalf and trust it will be a beneficial service to you.
