Resources for Parents

Amenities:

  • Parent Sleep Rooms: The NICU has a room we offer to parents who wish to stay overnight.  Check with your nurse to see if it is available for use.
  • Breast Milk Pumping Room: We have a private room for mom's to pump breast milk or to relax between feedings.
  • Consultation Room: We have a private room for conversations between families and the health care team.  We also use the room for classes, family conferences and our parent support group.

The Parent's Corner

It is extremely important for parents to have information related to their premature/ill infant and parenting in general. Located just outside the unit, our Parent's Corner is a place where you can find written resources on specific issues. Each month we will highlight a special topic on the bulletin board outside the unit.

"NICU Knowledge" Computer

Our state of the art touch screen computer located in the Breast milk pumping room is filled with information to help you learn about the NICU, Prematurity and many other newborn topics.

Parent Group

Sometimes it is just nice to be able to talk to another parent about life with a NICU baby. Look for signs in the unit or ask your nurse about our parent support group. Our group called VOICE (Veterans of the Intensive Care Experience) is made up of NICU graduate parents who are available to give support over the phone to any new NICU parent who might need it. Watch the bulletin board for more information.

Helpful Support and Information on Line

The March of Dimes website www.marchofdimes.com is an excellent source of information about Prematurity and other newborn issues.
